Reunification Palace (106 Nguyen Du St, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) – this site probably has the most historical significance in regard to modern Vietnam. It was here, on April 30th, 1975, that the Vietnam War ended. Tanks of the (North Vietnamese) Liberation Army drove through the gates and a soldier went up to General Minh who then surrendered.

Now a museum, but still used for official government meetings and events, the Independence Palace was the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After buying a ticket you can then go inside and walk around a few of the floors to visit various sections, including meeting rooms, dining rooms, and lounges that are fit for royalty. Admission: 40,000 VND per person. Hours: 7:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm (daily).
